Mission:
To generate Competent Professionals to become part of the
Industry and Research Organizations at the National and
International levels.
Established
in 1986 with an undergraduate Programme (BE) in Electrical
Engineering with an annual intake of 60, has now become a
pillar of the Institute for catering the quality education to
the students. Adequately qualified and matured faculty and the
skilled supporting staff are the strength of the department.
The teaching methodology adopted in the department provides
maximum benefit to the students through simple and conceptual
method of teaching-learning process. Thus the department holds
the responsibility of equipping the students to combat with
the shortage of man power in the core sector.
High voltage
Lab, Electrical Machine Lab, Power Electronics Lab,
Microprocessor Lab, Computer Lab, PSA Lab etc. are best of its
kind and get appreciation from the concerned people.
The course
has bagged the accreditation status from National Board of
Accreditation (NBA). To produce qualified man power the
department has been recognized by the University as the
research center for carrying out PhD Programme.
Electrical
Engineering Department has been actively involved in research
and consultancy in all the fields of Electrical Engineering.
The major research groups are Power & Energy Systems,
Instrumentation & Control Systems, Electric Machines & Power
Electronics. In order to carry out R&D works, Consultancy,
Testing and Students’ Project, Application software like
Active VHDL, MULTISIM, COMMSIM, PSCAD, MATHCAD, MATLAB with
SIMULINK, ETAP, SKM Power Tools, CASPOC have been acquired by
the department and are being effectively used. It is
constantly modernizing the laboratory facilities with latest
technology and research know-how. The departmental offices and
laboratories are well connected by the institute LAN linking
with all other departments and the internet world outside. The
departmental library is a great resource of Text Books as well
as reference books and various Project reports. Pass outs of
this department are aspired for higher studies in Engineering
